Dear Members:
What a great turnout for the campout and work party.  It was a fun weekend
and a great way to start the season.  I'm glad that so many people came to
help brush back the trails.
We will have another campout on the third weekend of Oct.planned. The meeting
will be held at the bank in Sandy, Saturday evening.  We will possibly have a
guest speaker for the meeting.  We are still working on this.
In the past, the club has never addressed any political measures of the
State.  Measure 93 will repeal user fees that the State levies on us.  We
currently pay $15 for a season sno-park pass.  In 1996 we had lots of snow
that needed to be removed from the snow parks.  The $10 that we were paying
for the sno-park did not cover the cost of removal of snow from the
sno-parks, so the State raised the fee to $15.  If this measure passes, we
will return to $10 for sno-park passes.  ODOT cannot go into a deficit on
plowing the sno-parks, so once the money is gone there will be no more
plowing of the sno-parks.  With the possibility that some snow parks will be
closed.  It would be in our best interest if this measure does not pass.
