Welcome to summer! Now when is it going to be over so we can start running dogs again?
If you aren’t a member of our Facebook page, you may have missed Joel Myers' post about this year’s Junior Musher of the Year. Anyway, the news was that Kensington was very pleased to have been given that award.
The club is planning a few events this summer including a camp out in July and a bootie-making workshop, date not yet confirmed. In July, Tim and Thad are giving talks at the Oregon Humane Society Summer Camps to spread the word about our cool sport. In August, we’ll be commiserating that it’s still too hot to run dogs and working on the September pull training and October trail cleanup. I hope you will join us this summer at our meetings. (Please come to the June meeting at Kim Tinker’s house with your favorite camp spots ideas for July).
Sponsoring a race at Diamond Lake to take the place of Frog II is looking like a very good possibility. As soon as we have a permit, we can start getting the word out and getting the mushing community excited about this resurrected race.
Finally, if you are up for some doggie fun that is a bit different from our normal sledding and scootering, but is for a good cause, try the Mt. Tabor Doggie Dash, a benefit run for DoveLewis. http://www.terrapinevents.com/mt-tabor-doggie-challenge_info.htm
